Gyproc Jointing

Gyproc Jointing

Gyproc® jointing products can provide the specified levels of fire resistance and sound insulation when it comes to sealing linings.

There is nothing more satisfying than a job well done, right?

Jointing, also known as taping, is a process used in plasterboard installation to create smooth and seamless joints between individual sheets of plasterboard.

When plasterboard sheets are installed on walls or ceilings, there are visible seams where the tapered edges of the boards meet. Jointing is the technique used to conceal these seams and create a uniform finish. This method is an alternative to skimming, where the whole surface of the plasterboard is covered with a thin layer of plaster.

You can start by selecting the correct jointing compound. It is possible to find ready-mixed compounds which are easy to use such as Gyproc® Ready Mix Joint Cement. This air-drying ready mixed jointing material is for use over Gyproc® Joint Filler in hand jointing, or for all application stages with mechanical jointing tools - saving time by eliminating the mixing stage.

Taping solutions

Gyproc® Joint tape, a strong paper tape, is ideal for jointing both tapered and square edge boards. Quick to apply by hand or machine, it's pre-creased for easy application to internal angles, and has chamfered edges and spark perforations for better grab and easier finishing.

Fibreglass tape, both user-friendly and speedy, is increasingly popular for use on taping and jointing plasterboard joints when used with setting products.

Gyproc’s range of self-adhesive fibreglass tapes are ideal for use in plastering, taping and jointing jobs – easy solutions that are ready to stick into place, without the need for an extra filler or compound underneath.

Joints must be reinforced and for greatest resistance to cracking this should be carried out using Gyproc® Joint Tape.
